Our Priorities

Each year, our 5th graders have the opportunity to attend Junior Achievement Biztown. This program provides a hands-on career exploration experience where they learn about citizenship, philanthropy, and community involvement.

As technology has rapidly changed, it has been a challenge to continue to outfit the broadcasting studio at our high school. The District would like to enhance a broadcast system to allow more student and staff training opportunities as well as expand district and building-level communication outreach to the community at large.

One of our priorities is to reward the hard work and achievements of our graduates. The foundation plans to develop and offer a scholarship award to senior students graduating from Newport High School.

Newport High School students have opportunities to participate in dual enrollment, which provides an avenue for them to explore college opportunities. NHS currently partners with Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC), Penn State Harrisburg, and Harrisburg University to offer higher education dual enrollment options.

This program provides educational and work experiences not able to be offered within traditional settings. These experiences allow students to focus on various fields which they may pursue in the workforce.

Another priority of the foundation is to support and expand our teachers and staff through a competitive grant program.  Some innovative programs may be limited due to the District's budgetary restrictions on core offerings. Our goal is to help fund teacher-led programs that align with district priorities and further enhance educational opportunities for our students.
